Boards have gilt decorated inner edges with " Bound by Field 65 Regent St." in top margin. Chromo-lithograph frontispiece ( by Ashbee and Dangerfield" with paste down sepia photgraph. Chromo-lithograph Title Oage illustrated by Samuel Stanesby ( so stated ). There are 96 illustrated pages, each with three pictures. The fore-edge has red and black titles under. the gilt defining the podition in the text of each book. This is Ferrier`s Patent Index. A tipped in slip at the front reads as follows " Ferrier`s patent Index. The Index runs in a zigzag line from Genesis to malachi, and from Matthew to Revelation, so that the order of the books of both Old and New Testaments is seen at a glance", followed by some more detail about how to hold the book most effectively. The spine and edges have some rubbing, some wear at spine ends and one front blank endpaper not present. A solid copy with this rare example of Ferrier`s Indexing. Offered for GBP 295.00 = appr.
