Home Catalogue No. 1000 1915-1916 High-Grade Apparatus for Weighing and for Mechanical Counting Soho Foundry, Birmingham, W & T Avery Ltd. 1915, First Thus. 5.5" x 7.75" tall approx. A poor and grotty copy, sold as found. Original printed paper-covered boards very grubby and worn, with the cloth quarter-binding frayed and torn. Marked on the front board and on the heavily foxed f.f.ep. "Service Dept", which explains a lot. F.f.e.p. and title leaves, and pp 77-80 detached but present, and the contents generally finger-marked and with the occasional annotation, cancellation or odd ink stain. The quick-reference thumb-tabs are all heavily soiled although the great majority of the pages are reasonably clean. Some pages lacking, due perhaps to a policy of removing reference to those machines no longer stocked, so we have:- i-xvi, 1-16, 21-64, a double-sized single-folded sheet "Scales for Grocers and Provision Dealers", 69-184 with an additional illustration of a jeweller's balance scale tipped to page 81 and a brown & green on yellow double-sized folding leaf at page 87 and titled "The Avery Student's Balance", 187-190, 193-231 [the final page]. Illustrations and details throughout of just about every type of weighing apparatus available at the time. Offered for GBP 55.00 = appr.
