BEMROSE, WLLIAM, AUTHOR OF ' MANUAL OF WOOD CARVING ' , ' FRET CUTTING ' ETC., ETC. Manual of Buhl - Work and Marquetry with Practical Instructions for Learners and Ninety Coloured Designs
London, Bemrose & Sons. Third Edition n.d. but c1886 . 4to. hardback, 220mm x 280mm tall (8.75" x 11" approx.). 32pp, with a decorated halt-title page with the decorated logo roundel on its verso 'Printed by Bemrose & Sons, Derby' and a further 32 decorations and figures in the text, plus 9 single-sided and 4 double-sided leaves with the 90 superb colour-illustrations referred to in the title, plus a 10pp list of works by Bemrose & Son, with text figs. of tools and decorated end-pieces. From the library of Cheltenham School of Art, there are light rubs to the binding edges & corners and slight loss to the surface of the front free endpaper through the removal of the card ticket-carrier; with stamp impressions to three of the four endpapers, and to both the recto and verso of the title-leaf, but none elsewhere. Overall a very good, clean, tight and bright copy in the original black and blind-decorated green cloth-covered, bevelled-edge boards/gilt titles. Although undated, the publication dates of other Bemrose titles listed suggest post-1885 production.
