Pp xii, 176 with 23 single-sided leaves with 219 black-on-white illustrations of turned patterns, plus 402 un-numbered leaves taking the sequence of samples through from No. 220 to No. 3,435. plus a further 32 un-numbered double-sided leaves taking the illustrations, printed in white-on-black for this final grouping, from No. 3,436 up to No. 3,500. [giving the book by far and away the greatest number of turned samples seen in books from this, the "golden age" of turning.]. Some minor splash-marking to the top of the front board, and the top inch of the rear board hinge is a little tender. Otherwise an excellent copy, bound in contemporary full-calf with gilt double rulings to board edges; five gilt decorated raised bands & gilt decorated panels to spine; gilt-on-black spine title; inner gilt dentelles and marbled endpapers, and top edges gilt, and with the pictorial bookplate of the Author's relative, Gardner S. Bazley, M.A. Magd:Coll:Oxon:1889. The Preface closes thus: " The impression of this work consists of 150 copies only, probably about equivalent to the number of persons who take an interest in this particular branch of amateur mechanism; and as the lithographic stones were obliterated as the successive transfers were completed, the book cannot be reprinted".
