With a skilled operator, the Turk won most of the games played during its demonstrations around Europe and the Americas for nearly 84 years, playing and defeating many challengers including statesmen such as Napoleon Bonaparte and Benjamin Franklin (Wikilpedia). London, 1837, 1841. First Edition, Disbound. Very Good Condition. Six 8 page issues. Approximately A4 size, containing a number of different articles in addition to the Automata material, with a front woodcut, plus other smaller illustrations. There are eleven small woodcut illustrations of the automata mechanism and cabinet within the text.
