Born with cerebral palsy - and now totally blind and a permanent wheelchair user - she was the subject of Thames TV's This Is Your Life when still in her mid-twenties. In 1989, she founded the Lin Berwick Trust to provide purpose-built, self-catering holiday accommodation for people with disabilities, their families and carers, and in 2001 began developing a Braille Transcription Service. Lin is a Fellow of the British Institute of Homoeopathy, a Member of the Chartered Institute of Journalists and the author of Undefeated (Epworth Press, 1980) and Inner Vision (Arthur James, 1990). She was awarded an MBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours in 2003. A year later, her beloved husband Ralph was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease, and he died in the spring of 2011.
