The leather backing is modern. and features gilt-blocking and gilt-crossed raised bands. The calf-covered boards are probably late 18th century. and are somewhat edge-worn and dulled. with surface wear and scuffs also evident as with age. The boards also feature slightly worn inner gilt dentils. Marbled endpapers. All edges gilt. Previous owner's bookplate to front pastedown. There are three pen small inscriptions by previous owner's on two prelim. pages before the title page. dated 1821 & 1822. There is also a red stamp on one of these pages. On the title page there is some Latin text added in pen by a previous owner. Some light water staining is evident to prelims and first few pages. Overall. the text is very clean and perfectly legible. with some light tanning evident in the page margins.
