Ms. Jeans appeared in major roles in two Alfred Hitchcock silent films. Downhill (1927) and Easy Virtue (1928) and various other British films. before playing a number of grande dames in Hollywood films starting in 1937. such as Hitchcock's Suspicion (1941). as well as in such films as Banana Ridge (1942). and Gigi (1958). Also included are 3 envelopes addressed to George Murray. dated May-July 1952. while he was stationed on the USS General C.C. Ballou. an American military transport engaged in the Korean War at the time. George Murray is mentioned in Ms. Jean's letter as 'a charming person. his sister is married to my elder brother.'
