Neilson for the Author 1794.Fair to good copy bound in contemporary full aniline calf. Gilt-blocked titles to spine. The calf is somewhat worn and scuffed. particularly around the spine cover. Panel edges dulled and rubbed. Front board is loose. otherwise the text block is tight and intact. Lacking pages 121 & 122 although text appears complete. Pages are reasonably bright and clean considering the age of the books. with some just some light. scattered dust-toning evident. Further scans. images etc. and additional bibliographical material available on request.; 8vo 8' - 9' tall; 140 pages; Extremely scarce title. There is a contemporary inscription facing the title page: 'These poems are the works of my most kind and dear early fried James Grahame. author of The Sabbath. I never saw another copy. and doubt if there are half-a-dozen in existence. [signed] J. Richardson [?]. He bought them all [?] and destroyed them.' There is a further. probably modern note in pencil after Richardson's signature: 'Friend of Sir Walter Scott.' 140p. 22cm.
