Title: Three Lieutenants
Description: London, Blackie & Son Ltd. 1936, 1st This Edition. Hardback, 7 x 5. Ill.: W Edward Wistville. Book has red boards not faded because it has had a dustwrapper. Unfortunately a piece has been lost from the rear of the dustwrapper, at the top, but the front and spine are complete and in good order showing sailors climbing a tree where there are monkeys with another sailor in a boat underneath there is a boat and more sailors on the spine. On the top lettering has been lost from the rear of the dustwrapper so that all the forthcoming titles appear. The bookplate on the fep shows it was awarded for attendance during 1936 which is why we have dated the book c1936. It could be earlier. 4 colour plates one of which repeats the dustwrapper. Kingston born in 1814 in London but spent the greater part of his life in Portugal where his father traded. His frequent voyages between Portugal and England taught him much of sea life and were in the first place responsible for the sea-stories. He wrote more than 100 books. 352pp. Very Good/Fair to Good.
